With love and gratitude from our family to yours

Dear Community,

I want to thank you all for a wonderful start to the school year. I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes by Melodie Bates - "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home and a stranger into a friend."

It has been joy to see our new classroom and staff members become a part of our community. I am grateful each day for being part of such an amazing team.

Thank you to all the families, new and old, who support and love for our school in so many different ways. A big shout out to the parents from the Meadow Room (Nora Martin, Wendy Stassens, Jenny Johns and Lisa Neal) who are on the expansion committee for the house next door. Your tireless energy and hard work is a testament to your love and dedication to Montessori and the legacy of the previous educators before us. Thank you!

Last, but not the least, we have a stellar board (Anna Matzinger, Jenny Johns, Nora Martin, Laura Ramsey, Amanda Marshall, Lisa Neal). Thank you for your vision, your strength and ability to devote so much of your time to our school. If you see them out and about town, give them a hug or a high five. They rock! I am excited to announce our newest board member, Robin Meyers. She has been a Montessori guide in the Portland area for 30 years. She and her husband have raised four children and live on a farm in Yamhill County.

It takes a village to sustain the growth of a our school and McMinnville Montessori is a beautiful example of all of our collaborative efforts as a community. Thank you, all!

I hope you enjoy this time to rejuvenate, celebrate, nurture, love your families and give thanks!

With gratitude,
Shazia

Fundraising News

Thank you for continuing to support the Oregon Bottle Drop. We still have some more blue bags in the office.

SAVE THE DATE: Our second annual Third Street Books fundraiser is set for the weekend AFTER the "Black Friday" weekend: As before, the locally-owned bookshop has graciously agreed to kick a percentage of all sales to anyone (including friends, relatives of Montessori parents) back to our school.

So if you can possibly hold off on those holiday book buys until then (or order now, and pick up later) this fundraiser can be more successful than last year. So spread the word and mark your calendars. More info to come with full details in car line soon!

Our t-shirts arrived and they look fabulous!
The Meadow Room celebrated Spirit Day today as did all the staff. I hope you all got your orders. If you have not, please send me an email and we can get that sorted.

Moving forward every Friday will be Spirit Day when we all wear our t-shirts to school.

I will be off campus the last week before school closes for Winter Break to head out to Nepal for a trekking adventure. Nora Martin, our Board Vice President will be available for any unforeseen situations or circumstances. Her email is: marty97128@gmail.com and her phone number is 503.550.9498 and Cathy Dorner will be our on-call sub. Cathy is a primary trained guide, and worked at the school before I came on board.

Thank you for all the positive feedback about our new photographer. She did an awesome job, and we will use her next year again. If you have not see yours already, they were in the Shop Local envelope.
